Life and A Cup Of Coffee
Hi
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar......and the coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them intothe jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "Yes."
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf ball are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends, your favorite passions--things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car.
The sand is everything else--the small stuff."
"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play with your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your spouse out to dinner.
Play another 18 holes.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
"Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a cup of coffee with ur friend."
just finished Three weeks with my brother by nicholas sparks. hes truly one very admirable man. i dont know if i wanna recommend this book... to people that feel that their lives are so screwed up and meaningless and all that, if you read this book, my you'd be so ashamed at yourself because what you're going through is nothing compared to what nicholas went through!(at least for myself)
then theres the other spectrum, people who read it that gets affected easily..or if you just do have a conscious really. you feel really sad for nicholas and his brother, micah. feel so sad that they have to go through so much and maybe cant help it but cry.
it's painful to hear how much someone has to go through.
am talking with nicole (on, hear this, msn) and wow, shes such an optimistic girl really. she's looking forward to christmas cos it's coming--her tone just says it all... i was thinking, but no i'm not looking forward to it. heck, im not even looking forward to each day. because that'll mean one day nearer to start of hols, one day nearer to a levels.i'm not ready for that. but time just goes no matter what you're feeling and hey might as well just go with the flow ay? oh well, no point staying upset yeah man, shes right, no point dreading a new day. since time won't go against science and days will just roll by, might as well be happy and live it to the best !
let me share with y'all sth. mg prefect 06 created some yahoo acct for easy communications. and now that its 07, i guess the acct is kinda forsaken.but recently, i've been receiving a lot of mails from that acct. apparently there are users in mgpb06 like Lovely Kurdi and Mad Girl (or sth) and they keep sending us random emails. just like that story i pasted above.. and it's rather cool so i read all of those emails though they spam my inbox. one email can be on some cool art, another on some life lesson etc. just serves as a reminder to my rather busy life. these lessons actly tie in (more or less lah... here and there) with some christian teachings so yes, it's cool.
so in response to what i've just learnt from nicole, i cant wait for camp! :)

this is a milestone in my life. 281107 went to the dentist by self . rather eventful i must say
it was raining cats, dogs and rats, it was raining reallllly heavily. no umbrella in possession so had to run from one shelter to the next. my journey there was splattered with random sparks of bright light that blinded my vision then thunders so loud that had a lasting ringing sound in my head. twas scary man...dude i was alone!thought thunder monster was gonna strike me while i was all alone to fend for myself. ( i sound like i hate being alone. no not true. i rather be alone than with pple i dont feel comfortable with ) like resonance like that since sound is vibration ay ?okay no connection.
well anyway i was really cool abt it lah. walked into the centre, left my shoe bag on a chair then proceeded to the toilet to dry up myself. so anyyywaaay everything changed when the dentist took one of the machinery from her set of varieties, pressed some button and made the 'whiiiiirirrr' sound. she almost killed me. okay not that bad, i just kept focusing on the very fascinating light on top of me. really, why are lights so interesting? the way it illuminates and brightens the whole room/ but there was the occasional jab and OW damn it that hurt! but no i didnt cry. i could feel tear(s) forming up at the side of my eyes but no, not enough to roll down and concede to Dr. Evil. so hurray for that!
before that i went to do easy run (a little less than 40min) with rjcross. but only weiwen ,norman and ruiyong was there. i feel good ;) i KEPT UP with 3 guys tdy!hahahha. i'm so fit! kidding, i bet they slowed down for me. but weiwen talked to me anyway so paced slowed down a lot at 2nd 1/2. "so hows yellow flower?" HAHA! wow the change in his expression was priceless.
then met tricia at turf city! today was a really fun day thus the recount :D we toured giant ,bought some stuff to busy ourselves with then went to walk the route. tricia took many many pics which is so pointless!doh every pic looks the same, trees all over the place. BUT to the crosser's eyes, every single picture has its significance. ah, the majesty of it all. God's wonderful creations. i didnt use my liverpool cap in the end cos of stupid reasons. my relationship with tricia is rather the same.. she does most of the talking, gives the weirdest comments (:P:P), etc etc. but of course i'm talking more now( i dontknow why i felt theneedtosay that)
i lost my slippers to a battle against mud. eeeeeeeeee twas sad :( but i didnt bother to try salvaging my slippers. didnt feel sad when it happened actually HAHA. ditching them was the only thing in mind. maybe because 1 leave my mark 2 can buy new slippers 3 not mine, fang's :P (nah i'm kidding abt this i love you rachie) 4 i wanted to walk barefooted. so there i just left my slippers and started on a new journey to the finish line. tricia said ,during e stoney parts, it's like having foot reflexology session. but darn it hurt like mad! the muddy areas were a comfort to my feet but it was soooo gross. i dont know how to describe that feeling.when your feet just sinks into the mud and gets overwhelmed by mud crocodiles. the grassy areas were another terrain i travelled on. ah, the best ones :) tricia said they were really high grasses. i didnt care. they brought comfort to thy feet. God rewarded them with lots of water after. oh triciahey! realise it only started pouring like crazy after we left turfc???? :D:D:D yay thank God !
we picked teo up from acjc then i left for dentist.
so that concludes my day basically. seems like i was more occupied by my surroundings than e people i was w no? they were too XP hahaha kidding:)

i dont like pple making use of me.
i dont like falling into pple's tricks.
i like prison break, i love watching races, i like watching sports competitions, i like watching stuff that make you think yet i also like watching stupid bimbotic shows that make you laugh at stupid things.
just watched this ironman tri race documentary...maaaad. in sg, it was blazing hot. and they had to cycle up sheares bridge!pure torture. it was so nice seeing the pple cross the line one by one. but obviously there were sad moments like when those dudes collasped from dehydration or cramp etc.
i shall do what i used to do;post stuff frm msn convos.

when things and circumstances make you feel blue and tired and dejected...take a little time off...and then tell yourself that you will not allow that to happen...deep breath and then go out there to do things...running...studying...to your best...and it is only by seizing the moment...each moment...and do your best that you will slowly find yourself moving in the>right direction...
i've been meaning to say my thanks to you but i keep forgetting. thanks really for lending me your ears during that short period of time though it isn't impt to you. and i wasn't fine because the first time i raised it up, you changed course so quickly it hurt me, deep.
you know at different phases of your life, you'll face different challenges, you'll have to deal with different issues... right now, mine is to learn how to do as italic ised, set my priorities right and be a mary, not a martha. i have a book and it says 'if you're passionate about God, you can be sure abt your passions' .
yup, and i'm reading The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks now. my all time favourite writer ;) ignoring the fact that i dont really know the other writers .jan thinks hes good too

yup, i'm very encouraged by that. have you met as such pple in life? one who seems to speak the absolute truth always. one that can quote from what you said a long time ago to judge your actions. one that can do those quote things and question your actions now? i have, twice in fact. or maybe more actually.. but they dont create this big an impact or rather distress on me
