i've forgotten how it feels like to pine for someone, not that i'm complaining! those were bad days. anyway, really liked sth and will share it here :

and to your question, i think yes it's possible. Afterall, missing is longing for someone's presence. So while you may pine for a presence of someone you already know, it is also possible that you fantasize and pine for someone with certain qualities you desire
haha ! the story is about how this girl found a bottle along the shore at one of her beach vacations. she found a letter in it- it was a from a guy to a girl.
(it was very intriguing that it was emotionally laden but didnt send it to her.)
the girl who found the letter was so moved by the letter that she decided to find the guy. very spontaneous book ^^
